Ransomware hack reported in Glencoe – Chicago Tribune
The following items were taken from Glencoe community reports and releases. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt.
THEFT
A bottle of alcohol was reported stolen July 26 from a retail outlet on the first block of Green Bay Road with the theft believed to have occurred July 18, police said. The alcohol was valued at $90.
DECEPTIVE PRACTICES
An individual reported July 22 of receiving an email that the individual’s computer was hacked and there was an offer to assist with a fee of $4,000, police said. There was no financial loss.
An individual reported July 22 an unsuccessful attempt to change bank routing information for a retirement account, police said. There was no financial loss.
An individual reported July 26 of purchasing $800 worth of gift cards under fraudulent circumstances, police said.
